This is one of my favourite clarinet etude books! I love how the book takes simple and usually diatonic melodies, and then creates chaos!

60 Rambles gives the player a chance to learn a phrase, then he takes the melody and modulates it through different keys – many times it feels atonal, and it definitely throws muscle memory out the window. It’s a really fun book, and as an instructor, I love watching the expression on my students’ faces when they run into a section of the short pieces which is seemingly unrelated to main statement of the etude.

I can’t recommend this book enough if you’re looking for short, melodic pieces, which bend your ears as you play through it!
